For Renters

Talk me through how I rent step-by-step

  1. Request an item and enter your credit card details to Kindershare.
  2. Once the owner accepts your request, get in touch to confirm the pickup details. 3 days before the booking starts, your credit card will be charged the fee. A hold will also be placed on your credit card for the bond amount – this is similar to one that is taken when you check into a hotel. If you are using a debit card, the bond will be deducted in full.
  3. On the day of pickup, collect the item . Check the item for any pre-existing damages and take photos if required.
  4. On the return date, return the item to the Owner. The owner will check the item and if there are no issues, the bond will be released in 2 days. Please note that our customers have reported delays

Are there any additional fees for renters using Kindershare?

You will only pay the rental amount shown on each product listing. Your credit card will be charged the rental fee (e.g. $10 per week) and a delivery fee if applicable.

A hold will also be placed on your credit card for any Bond amount that the owner selects. if you pay by debit card, you will be charged a non refundable fee equivalent to our bank fee. This is currently 1.7% plus 30c. The Bond (less any bank fee if applicable) will be released 48 hours after return of the goods. There are no monthly subscription fees

If the items you rent are damaged or not returned, additional charges may be payable. Please refer to the specific FAQ below.

I need an item for a week but it is listed for monthly rent only.

You will need to pay the amount listed on the product page, even if you want to return it before the due date. Part-refunds are not available. If you’re booking for an extended time, you might want to reach out to the owner and ask for an offer for your rental.

What happens if the owner doesn’t provide the goods / does not look like the picture

We encourage you to first raise the issue with the owner on pickup. If you are not comfortable with renting the equipment after having seen it, please  Contact us to provide any other feedback.

The owner has suggested we cancel the booking and make the payment directly

Ensuring the transaction is processed through Kindershare helps cover our running costs and will make sure we stay online to help you next time you need an item.

You will also miss out on a rating which will help with future rentals. Finally, we are unable to assist with any disputes for transactions taking place outside our website.

What is the hold amount?

The hold is placed on your credit card and works like a security bond – similar to when you check into a hotel. The hold is released 48 hours after the items are returned in good working order to the owner. The hold fee is determined by the owner of the item.

If you’re paying by debit card, the full amount is deducted 3 days before the start of the rental. You will also be charged a non refundable fee equivalent to our bank fee, which is currently 1.7% plus 30c.

I have rented a car seat and the vehicle has been in a car accident

We hope everyone is safe. Please cease using the car seat and contact us so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

I have rented an item and it has been damaged

Send a message to the owner and advise them of the damage. They will contact Kindershare and we will review the damage and charge your credit card the Bond amount.

If the item is no longer useable and the Owner has selected a Bond amount that is 20% or more than the replacement cost of the rented item, Kindershare will also place an additional charge on your credit card, as further described in Our Terms. This charge will be 75% of the market value of a replacement item, deducted to take into account any bond you have paid. For example, if the item’s replacement value is $1,000 and you paid a $200 bond, you will be charged ($1,000 * 0.75) – $200 = $550.

What happens if I do not return the item?

If the item is not returned by the return date, Kindershare will charge your credit card the Bond amount.

Kindershare will also place an additional charge on your credit card, as further described in our Terms (hyperlink). This charge will be 75% of the market value of a replacement item, deducted to take into account any bond you have paid. For example, if the item was $1,000 and you paid a $200 bond, you will be charged ($1,000 * 0.75) – $200 = $550.

I need to extend the period of my rental

Please contact the owner via the platform to ask for an extension to the rental agreement. If the owner agrees to extend the hire, they will send you an offer to allow you to extend your rental. Kindershare will then process an additional rental fee to your credit card.

If you extend the rental agreement outside of the platform, insurance coverage will no longer apply.

Can I take my items overseas?

Yes, however currently there is no insurance coverage for the United States or Canada. As such, items should not be taken to those countries, or will not otherwise have the benefit of insurance coverage.

Are special offers available?

Some owners may chose to send a special offer to you. Please contact them using the “contact” button on the listing with your travel dates.

When does my bond get returned to me?

Provided your item is returned to the owner on time and in good condition, the bond is released on our systems no later than 2 days after the return date. The bond amount will then ‘drop off’ your statement (you will not usually see a reversal – the line will disappear).

If you paid on credit card, the amount will usually drop off your internet banking immediately. We have had some reports of bonds paid via debit cards taking a few days longer than credit card. If the item has been marked returned on our system, but your bond has not yet been returned, please contact your bank to receive an estimate, or get in touch and we can see if there is anything we can do to speed it up!

Do you fit car seatS?

Our car seats are offered by parents, who will be able to provide you with the user guide for the seat We have some owners on our site who are registered car seat fitters, and they will note that on their profile.
